How to Grow Lilies in your Garden
Lilies will add a splash of beautiful colour to your garden, making them a popular flower with gardeners. They can also be grown indoors but usually, they will thrive in a warm sunny spot outdoors. They could be grown as a border flower but in general, lilies thrive when grown in containers.
Make sure you know the right kind of soil to use with your lilies. Some do not like lime, in which case make sure you buy soil that doesn’t contain this. Generally, though, lilies can be grown successfully in any type of good quality compost. Once they have been planted (autumn or spring are the best times of year for planting), keep the soil moist but be very careful not to over water it. Make sure there is plenty of drainage in the container in case of heavy rain – use a layer of gravel or lift the pot up from the ground.
