Looking After Grass When you Have Children

Having a garden is wonderful when you have a family, giving your children quality time spent out of doors. You’ll also know if you’re in this situation that keeping your grass health is almost impossible with little feet running around, churning up mud and making grass go brown. Here are some tips to help you look after grass with children around:

  • Choose a hardy turf variety. Some will fare much better than others under heavy footfall as they are more coarse in texture.
  • Don’t let children on the lawn when it’s too wet. Playing on the grass is dry weather activity. Your grass will get churned up, muddy and waterlogged if children run around on it in wet weather.
  • Make sure you water grass regularly in summer. At the same time, don’t let grass get too dry. A good sprinkler watering system is essential in the heat of summer, keeping grass hydrated.
